APJC works with news media to advance international development and understanding. The centre is looking for strategic help to expand this important international work.

Overview

APJC is seeking an Executive Assistant with fundraising experience to join a small team involved in delivering international media development programs and journalist exchanges.

APJC is Australia’s only not-for-profit with the mission of working with news media to achieve international development outcomes and promote international understanding.

The position will be on a 3 day-a-week basis, for 11 months initially, and based at the APJC secretariat in Melbourne.

Remuneration will be based on a full-time salary of $55,000-70,000 depending on skills and experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the APJC director in communicating with internal and external stakeholders in Australia and internationally (advisory board, news media, ACFID, ACNC, etc)
  • Play key role in fundraising – identifying funding sources and building relationships with funders, helping develop and write funding submissions
  • Helping with office administration and program activities

Key Selection Criteria

  • Experience in providing executive support
  • Ability to communicate effectively (print, orally) with stakeholders and represent APJC
  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising, including liaising with funding sources and writing funding submissions
  • International work or experience
  • Experience working with a small team engaged in multiple activities
  • High level office skills and social media skills

Additional

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous: work with news media, an Asia-Pacific region language (including indigenous languages), project coordination, bookkeeping (eg MYOB).
